
Koi are our Passion
In 1984 climate scientist Jay Zwally traveled to Saporo Japan for a meeting of the Glaciological society …..Upon setting his bags down in the hotel room, he was struck by the beauty of the fish in a pond he could see outside his window. This was the moment he fell in love with Koi.

Our Koi
We travel to the breeders in the Niigata prefecture of Japan to hand select each of our High Quality Koi, and all the Koi we raise pass under the eye of Taro Kodama. In the future, we hope to set a new standard for the Lemon Hariwake by breeding our own from the greatest stock in Japan.
What We’ve Achieved This Year
Major Main Pond additions
50,000 gallon Main Pond with 130+ stunning Koi, some of which are 28+ inches
Added two major air pumps, one in the shallows and one in the deep
Improved the flow rate of water flow through our biological filter to around 12000 gallons an hour by adding a new pump, and added 4 bubblers to the media container
Increased our already substantial biological filter media volume (a 10X6X8 chamber) by added 300 new biomedia ring structures.
Reconstructed the wall and rock structures of the shallow side
General Additions
Designed and built a 7000 gallon spawning pond on the hillside above the Main Pond
Designed and built a geothermal system for cooling in the hot summer months and extending the warm feeding season later into fall. This includes a large 10 feet deep reservoir to feed the system.
Dug the foundation, surveyed and designed an 8000 gallon show pond with 4 separate tanks to showcase a variety of stunning Koi
Designed and began construction of a main walkway through the Japanese gardens around the ponds, ending at the Japanese tea room
